WW Wisdom – “Happiness is not a destination, it’s a way of travel”

This week at Weight Watchers we each had to come up with one thing that made us happy.  As our fearless leader Gwen pointed out, happiness doesn’t always have to be an over the top emotion…it can be something simple that brings you a smile.  Someone compliments your weight loss, you button up jeans without lying on the bed with a crowbar, your new Fitbit band comes in the mail and it matches your walking shoes.  You know, the little stuff that makes you smile.  Puts a little giddy up in your step.  Makes it worth getting up and doing what you do and for just being you!

My exercise for you is to find and tell someone two things that just genuinely make you happy.  Maybe that person needs to hear it.  Maybe it will make someone else happy.  Of course I want you to name five things, but it will still make me happy if you name two (see how that works?). And it can’t all be puppy breath and extra fries in the bottom of the bag, those make everybody happy so they don’t count.

My top 5 things that always make me happy:

  • Bit O’ Honey Hunt – don’t get me wrong, I like the little Bit O’ Honeys too but there is just nothing quite like the full size ones.  And at 1PPV per piece it makes them worth the hunt.  I especially like finding them in obscure places:  gas stations in tiny towns, the hospital gift shop, my husband and daughter are in on the hunt too which makes me even more happy.
  • Frog songs – I don’t care what language it’s in or where we hear them but I love love love the sound of frogs singing.  At one time we had a pond and before summer was over we would have identied at least 4 kinds of frogs and one toad just by their songs
  • Sheet season – the first day it’s cold enough to change the bed into flannel sheets.  Count me in, I’m there
  • Days til Disney – At the most random times we will get a text from my husband announcing how many days are left until our next Disney trip.  They usually arrive when I’m busy at work and I know the people around me have to wonder what the little smirk is before I set down the phone.
  • Love you too, love you one – when our daughter was little we began using the normal ways to get her started counting.  1 jellybean for me, 2 jellybeans for you, you get the idea.  Well one day she told her daddy “love you” and naturally he said “love you too”.  Well this miniature smarty pants thought she found a new counting game and said “love you three”.  They continued until one of them suddenly said “love you one!” again and a winner was dubbed.  For years it was a who can love a higher number and then a surprise zinger love you one for the win.  She is 21 years old and she still makes sure someone else says love you too so she can zing in with love you one.  My favorite happy of all ✨☺️✨

What’s your happy?  Seriously, I want to know so let’s hear them!
