It seems early this year, but for those of us still under the antiquated daylight savings time situation it’s happening this coming weekend. On Sunday, March 9th at 2am don’t forget to adjust your clocks forward one hour. Also, please note the WW app seems to be having a little glitch in the “recently tracked” arena. Gwen has found a workaround on her Android phone but my iPhone app version is still listing all recently tracked under all meals. Hopefully it will be sorted soon!
This week’s Good Egg Award goes to Carolann in New Jersey! One day last week Carolann was walking her dog and could feel the little signs of spring around her. Her optimism started to wane a little when thoughts of the next possible snow started creeping in. She realized that was just the winter blues creeping in and decided “who cares if it snows? Spring is coming and there’s nothing winter can do to stop it!”. Now that’s a positive attitude at work. Carolann you are a good egg and I bet you have a new favorite appliance! Stay tuned this week over in our If You Have an Egg Facebook group for information on how you could be next week’s Good Egg Award recipient!
Swipe Right on Foods You Like!
I had to look up what “swipe right” meant to fully embrace this one. Apparently swipe right is the new catch phrase for accepting or liking someone (in this instance something) and swiping left means you have rejected them/it.
Did you know?
A fun fact about “swiping right” is that the concept originated from the idea of a deck of playing cards, where swiping right on a dating app essentially means “keeping” a card you like, just like you would when dealing cards in a game, signifying interest in that person’s profile. We’re not dating though, so we are using that concept on foods we like instead!
What is the difference between “wanting” a food and “liking” a food?
- “Wanting” a certain food sometimes manifests itself with emotions like anger, boredom, etc. Wanting is usually something very specific and if you’re like me you find yourself doing refrigerator roulette trying to find “it”
- “Liking” a certain food on the other hand means it’s good no matter when, you probably eat it frequently, and if you’re hungry it really fits the bill
What are some lower point foods that you “Like” and want to find some ways to keep them incorporated in your routine?
- Saturated fats remain solid at room temperature
- Unsaturated fats remain a liquid at room temperature
What are some foods that you often find yourself “Wanting” that you could still incorporate when you are actually hungry?
STAR Goal Icon:
Who can tell us a STAR goal they have for tracking this week? Remember it needs to be:
S-pecific so you will know if you did it
T-ruly doable in a week’s time
A-ctionable meaning you will DO something and not not do something
R-elevant to your journey!
Topic: Swipe Right On These Zero Point Foods!
Did you know that Swipe Right actually originated from card games? If you wanted another card, they would “swipe right” to give you an additional card. However, that term is now commonly used for dating apps. We aren’t dating these foods, but we would absolutely love more of these yummy zero point foods!
- Hamburgers: I love hamburgers, and I don’t usually need a bun. I actually prefer to eat them with a knife and fork, and I have zero desire to use lettuce as a “bun” replacement. Thank goodness, WW made it so we can have hamburgers again! 90% lean or better are considered zero point foods now!
- Portobello Mushrooms: If you spritz a portobello mushroom cap with a little olive oil and grill it, its still zero points and makes a delicious mushroom steak! I love mushrooms, and they make a super yummy addition to any meal!
- Onions: A classic veggie that makes any meal more flavorful without adding any extra points.
- Eggs: I love eggs… it’s kinda my brand. Grilled, scrambled, sunny side up egg are all great ways to add protein, and they are zero points too!
- Dak’s Spice: You know I love my Dak’s Spices. They are all salt-free, and add AMAZING amounts of flavor to make a dish really pop!
Now if you watched the chat on FB or YouTube, you’ll know that all of these ingredients ended up being a meal for myself. And let me tell you… it was soooooo good! I had a fantastic meal, and full of some of my favorite zero point foods.
Which zero point foods are your favorites? Let us know in the comments below!
