WW (Weight Watchers) Chat #184: When You Eat Healthier

Comments are Disabled In the spirit of transparency, I do receive commission from mentioning some of the products in this post. Any commission I earn comes at no additional cost to you and I’ll never recommend products that I don’t use, love and believe in.

We are on Week 4 of the 6 week challenge to earn a new charm!

Not one. Not even two. But all three recipes from last week’s chat are available for you here on the blog! Thank you, Jessica!

Last week in Chat #183 we found out what happens in your body when you are under stress. I’m going to  stop saying I have leftover baby belly (26 years later). After C-19 and all that fight or flight release of cortisol I’ve got legit Hormone Hips! Hahaha – who’s with me?

Your homework last week was #54321! Your responses have made me laugh, slow down a little and notice some of the things you mentioned, and a couple of them brought me to tears.

Take a deep breath… let’s see how you did

Kim gave the #54321 technique a shot and shared what she sensed with us:

  • 5 – She saw her cats, a cross plaque on the wall, her children’s graduation pictures, the TV, and her fireplace
  • 4 – She felt her soft shirt, comfy recliner, the coolness from the fan and air conditioner, and her soft blanket
  • 3 – She heard cars on the road, the washing machine, and her cat meowing
  • 2 – She smelled wax melting in her wax burner and the soap from her bath
  • 1 – She tasted toothpaste which signaled the end of her day

Lynn used the #54321 method to get through a stressful doctor’s appointment and came out on the other side with a completed mammogram to kick off her 6th year breast cancer free!

  • 5 – She saw a cross on her wall, a sunflower on her cup, pink roses in a vase, the sun shining through the window, and pictures of her grandchildren
  • 4 – She felt the softness of her t-shirt, the coolness of her glass of tea, the slight breeze from the ceiling fan, and the vibration of her phone ringing
  • 3 – She heard the hum of the air conditioner in the window, the TV, and the cars passing on the street
  • 2 – She smelled cinnamon from her morning toast and fabric softener from her laundry
  • 1 – She tasted cinnamon sugar from her toast

Mary Ann gave me all the feels with her #54321. In an incredibly stressful, heartfelt moment she used this method to keep calm.

  • 5 – She was with her son and saw her late husband’s stepping stone at her son’s camp. (Mary Ann shared with us that he’s not been gone long)
  • 4 – She felt sad because she’s missing him
  • 3 – She heard the sounds of the outdoors and her son telling her that he would take care of everything for her.
  • 2 – She smelled the fresh air outside
  • 1 – She tasted the tears on her face

Bravo ladies, you nailed it!

This Week’s Topic: When You Eat Healthier

This week for our 184th time together, we chat about what happens in your body when you eat healthier.

Sure, eating healthier foods can have important long-term results, but are there any “instant gratification” things I can expect when I eat healthier? You bet!

Feeling puffy? Fingers, toes, and even feet swollen? Eliminate or at least reduce sodium intake and you’ll be shocked how fast you eliminate the water your body is holding on to.

Tummy bloated? Feeling sluggish? Beans, beans, the magical fruit the more you eat them the more you… get rid of all the gunk in your digestive tract that slows you down and yes, can weigh you down. Think soluble fiber!

Tired? Headaches? Constipated? Say it with me: H… 2… O! Yep, more water solves all that and more!

This Week’s Homework: #foodswithbenefits

Name one of my healthier eating instant gratifications (or one of your own) and what instant benefits you get from this food!

Extra Credit: Foods with Benefits

You’ve heard me say before that when we are on vacations, traveling from home, or have a food frenzy potential event coming up that a good rule of thumb for me is “TWO on ONE off.” That means if I have no control over one meal that day I try to have two meals on plan so the one that is “off” doesn’t get out of control.

Forming a plan for your two “on” meals around the #foodswithbenefits we just discussed can help keep your tummy happy, avoid the day-after distress, and help you get right back on track!

In our extra credit we’re making Breakfast Bento Bowls and Taco Tuesday Power Bowls to make the most of those #foodswithbenefits! (recipes coming soon!)
