Last week we identified with our activity in Chat #190: The Activity/Identity Connection. Your homework was to finish the phrase “I’m a…..” and tell us which activity is part of your identity. Let’s see how you did!

  • Lynn says #ima couch potato. She feels like she’s gotten lazy during the pandemic with her gym closed but she’s taking baby steps toward her fitness goals like adding 3000 steps to her Fitbit goal and continuing to add 500 each week until she can get her daily step counts up consistently.
  • Sylvia says #ima walker. She never thought she would be, but she took up walking during the pandemic. She’s found that it’s much more fun that she expected and it’s a perfect time to listen to audiobooks!
  • Michele says #ima swimmer and crafter. She uses crafting as a helpful tool in her weight loss journey. When she feels like snacking, she crafts instead!

Bravo ladies, you nailed it!

This Week’s Topic: Boost Your Confidence

This week in your WW Weekly, there are 4 things relating to our confidence and self-efficacy that we’re going to focus on:

  1. Hitting Small Achievements – knowing that you have the ability to meet realistic, achievable goals
  2. See Others Succeed – when we see other succeeding it can help inspire us and we can learn from their success
  3. Feeling More Balanced – keeping your emotions in check and knowing there’s something you can do if you’re having a lot of strong feelings (good or bad)
  4. Get Encouragement – surround yourself with people who will keep you encouraged and motivated

This Week’s Homework: #ican

Choose one of the four suggestions in your Weekly and let us know how you’re going to focus on it in your life this week!

Extra Credit: My Purple Progress

I have officially completed 7 days on Purple and it’s time to report in.

If you remember from last week’s extra credit, I have 5 concerns about being on Purple. First, let’s see how I did with those:

  1. Time Constraints. It’s an issue I recognize and am still trying to deal with. Three out of seven days my first meal didn’t happen until well after 11 AM. One day it was 2:30 PM before I finally had a meltdown. That’s still a big work in progress for me.
  2. Not a Prepper. I decided to prep ahead 3 things I knew I wouldn’t get tired of: Low Sodium Dak’s Ranch Dressing, Plant Based Taco Soup, and Hard Boiled Eggs. It was a small step but it kept me from throwing in the towel!
  3. Bacon Lover. I planned bacon for breakfast on Day 7 and it gave me something to look forward to without turning it into a food reward.
  4. Don’t Know When to Stop. I had to seek advice on this one. Measuring out servings of everything including fruit helped. The best advice I received? Gwen suggested starting with ONE serving and if I was hungry, instead of eating another serving of that food, get a serving of a different zero point food. That actually worked! Except with grapes… I always got more grapes. But let’s face it, none of us are here because we ate a second serving of grapes.
  5. My Family is Filled with Civilians. They are supportive but let’s face it, no one in my family signed up for Purple but me. And without my mom, I didn’t have a “veggie buddy.” We did okay though! Last weekend everyone enjoyed my Plant Based Taco Soup and they all went back for seconds! No one but Alyssa stole something I had already counted and, well…. 🙂 Yesterday on our hour and a half drive to a wedding after work, John and Casey got me grilled nuggets and a fruit cup – yum!

Enough about that. You all are asking, “but how did you do??” Let’s see!

  • Swollen feet were gone after Day 2
  • Limping when I first get up isn’t gone, but at least I can bear my weight now and I’m not eating ibuprofen
  • Tummy trouble was gone after Day 2
  • Boot and pants – I can button my favorite fall pants and the zipper for my boots can almost zip!
  • Except for 2 servings of popcorn, no extra sodium was added at any prepped meal!
  • My weight loss was…. 5.3 lbs!

This week I’m going to stick with Purple with a few modifications:

  1. I will prep more to survive
  2. I will go hide and eat before 9AM if I have to. I have a big building with lots of hiding spots!
  3. I will add 5 more minutes to my morning workout
  4. I will add back in a little more lean protein and some whole grain carbs
  5. I will try to get home in time to stop eating 2 hours before bedtime.
