WW News February 2021:

  • Did you know you can track using Emojis now??? More news during the Chat but go check it out…it’s fun, it’s easy, and it’s interesting to see what pulls up!
  • During our 2:30pm Zoom for the W Knoxville WW Group today, Sandy from Naperville had a chance to tell us just a little about a recipe app she has been using with recipes she has been gathering online. I’ll report back in next week with the details
  • Linda in middle TN has found a product that was new to me, Healthy Life Keto bread.  0 SP for 1 slice, 1 SP for two slices. Linda says it’s a little pricey at Kroger and Walmart but well worth it!
  • East TN Wellness Checkins are being expanded and a new Monday afternoon check in is available. Go to WW → Connect → and find the Kingston Pike – W Knoxville, TN group for more info. You can also join me on Sunday afternoons at 2:30pm eastern in this same virtual workshop with hostess Gwen, my fave WW’er and the inspiration for the name of our group If You Have an Egg!  East TN Lifetime Members who were in good standing when COVID started have had their membership extended again until the end of June 2021. You will need to attend a Wellness Workshop during the month of June to continue those privileges.
  • The month’s theme is “WW Success Registry” focuses on a group of over 6,000 current and former WW members who have lost 20 or more pounds and kept it off for more than a year. This month’s focus is a common theme found amongst those members.  WW has been part of more than 115 published scientific papers, this is some information founded in fact and “normal” people just like us!
  • Personal News: we are beginning to receive a tiny stipend from YouTube affiliate marketing each time you watch one of our On Demand Chat or recipe videos all the way through.  It doesn’t cost  you a dime but soooo helps us to continue to bring you great content. And the more Subscribers we have the more you help…so please SUBSCRIBE, WATCH, and SHARE!

Last week in Chat #211 WW reminded us that sometimes to stop doing things that are too easy we have to make them a little harder. And if you make them too hard you will eventually stop doing them…and start doing something that will make you stronger instead!

  1. IDENTIFY YOUR “EASY” – What’s something you know you need to stop or at least do less of because and you’ve let it become too “easy”? Example: not getting all your steps in because of the weather/pandemic/circumstances
  2. MAKE EASY HARD – Next, what is something you could do to your environment to make that “easy” thing become “hard” (or at least harder) to do? Example: sign up to be the sole dog walker in the house for at least a month and then take him/her alllll the way to their favorite sniffing spot. Make sure everyone in your family makes it “hard” by not volunteering to do it
  3. GET STRONG – Before you know it the “easy” thing seems boring, lazy, no longer interesting and you’re getting stronger!

Your homework for last week #MakeEasyHard was to either choose one of the Every Day Power quotes and post it where we could see it – OR – do the three steps above and tell us how you are making your easy hard and to earn your next super cool badge! Let’s see how you did!

  • Mary Ann over on YouTube had me in tears when she requoted “a strong woman is able to smile this morning like she wasn’t crying last night” because she cries at night missing her husband who’s been gone a few years…but gets up smiling the next morning because she is keeping her promise to him to take care of herself….*whew*!!!
  • Carol Lou says that cooking has always been her “zen” but the pandemic has even made a feel good activity get replaced with “easy”…carry out, convenience foods, etc.  so this week she prowled through her freezer, found some forgotten ingredients and prepped some amazingly yummy soup that will make delivery hard and eating at home so easy!
  • Orlando Debbi had a rotisserie chicken just chilling in the freezer (just chillin…get it?) and pressure canned 8 pints (EIGHT!) of chicken soup for her pantry.  When she’s ready she’ll just add rice or pasta so she just made going out for dinner hard, having her pantry stocked was so easy!
  • And this just in…Katy just nailed this week’s homework, I mean NAILED IT!  In order to  make ordering out hard she DELETED ALL THE DELIVERY APPS on her phone! She figures if she’s going to treat herself she’ll make it a little harder and have to pick up the phone. WOWOWOW!!!

Bravo ladies, you nailed it!

This Week’s Topic: Track Like You Mean It

Raise your virtual hand if you think tracking makes your journey more successful.

Tracking (no matter how you do it) is popularly recognized as a key to success in many areas of our lives. As we will see next week, weight loss is not our only measure of success. Knowing how we got there, when we’ve done well and when we need to tweak, as well as a way to quantify our efforts (John just rolled his eyes) is more about doing it and less about “how” it’s done.

But which method of tracking is right? The real answer is if you’re doing it…it’s right! Not everyone is going to use the same method, have the same amount of time, or use the same tools. But here are some ideas to get you started.

  1. EXPERIENCE TRACK – You’ve had a meal or a food or a day that you’ve had before and know exactly how many points it’s going to be. Or you’re a consistent eater and have the same thing every day for a meal. There is nothing wrong with tracking “breakfast 4 points”
  2. PICTURE TRACK – Don’t have time to track what you’re eating? Snap a photo and go back to add the points later!
  3. SIRI TRACK – “Hey Siri, track That Man’s Turkey Tenderloin” – even your own recipes can be added and tracked with Siri!
  4. EMOJI TRACK – Ummmm how fun is this? Use the emojis on your phone or tablet and see what the WW app pulls up as options…so much fun!

This Week’s Homework: #EmojiTrack

Your homework for this week #EmojiTrack is the easiest one I’ve given you…ever. Get on your WW app (some of you haven’t been on there since the pandemic started *cough*), go to the Search Bar, and enter any Emoji and see what you get. If it’s something you would track take a screenshot and post it. If it’s just funny we want to see that too!

Don’t forget to do your homework #EmojiTrack and tag me when you share on social media!

Extra Credit: Egg Lady Labs: Trader Joe’s Jalapeno Artichoke Dip

In today’s extra credit we’re making all kinds of delicious goodies to help you stay on track this week!

To start, we’ll be making Hard Boiled Eggs in my Simple Living Products air fryer (Pro Tip: if you don’t have one yet, use my code EGG10 at checkout on simplelivingproducts.com for 10% off your air fryer!)

Last week during Chat #211 I shared my Trader Joe’s haul which included a family favorite of ours – the Artichoke and Jalapeno Dip. The first thing I always make with it is my Jalapeno Artichoke Cheesy Bacon Ciabatta, but that doesn’t use up the whole container of dip. So what to do with the rest?

  1. Double Your Dip
I like to use a 1:1 ratio of artichoke and jalapeno dip to nonfat plain Greek yogurt (for example, mix 2 tbsp of dip with 2 tbsp of yogurt) to make your dip go farther. It’s great on carrots, celery, pretzels, as a sandwich spread, and more!

  2. Make Jalapeno Artichoke Deviled Eggs
This dip is so versatile you can seriously do anything with it! One of my favorite ways to use leftovers is to make deviled eggs using the dip in the filling for an extra kick!

  3. Use It Anywhere!
During the live chat Loretta suggested using the dip in place of mayo in tuna salad.  We will definitely be trying this one, thanks Loretta!
