News and Reviews

Check out these new -o-me frozen sides I found at Kroger today!

  • Gardein has plant based soups! I picked up Italian Wedding, which is 5 points for an entire can!
  • I also grabbed the Palmini Hearts of Palm Angel Hair Pasta. 3 servings per container, and they are 0 points per serving. I will be trying that this week!
  • Have any of you had these? They are by the Tattooed Chef, and I’ve never heard of them! I got Organic Greens (1 point per serving), Organic Green Zucchini and Yellow Squash (0 points per serving), Zucchini Spirals (0 points per serving), and Riced Cauliflower Stir Fry (1 point per serving).

Review Last Week: Last week in Chat #318: No More Forbidden Foods I asked you to find a piece of scrap paper and write down 3 foods you promised you would never eat again (or thought you would never eat again) once you joined WW.

Hold up your piece of  paper and shout out your 3 foods.

Rip It Up!

Rip up your list of “No Fly” foods…nothing is off limits on WW!

Build a Budget

The perfect way to make all foods inclusive in your WW plan is to budget for them! Here are a couple of ideas:

  1. If you can plan ahead, let some dailies roll over and use them
  2. Plan a smaller serving that will satisfy your taste buds but not blow the budget
  3. Budget a meal or time when you can enjoy this food with witnesses

Find Your Way

Find your way where there is no other way. I’ve seen some things I never thought would be WW friendly find a way to my plate.

  • Pizza cut into two slices and #BulkItUp with a salad to make it seem like more pizza
  • A lightened up version of a point heavy food using chicken breast, sugar free sauces or air frying instead of deep frying
  • Saving things that are only best unchanged (like real butter or fancy cheese) for special occasions like a vacation, once a year family get together or birthdays

Your homework was #FindYourWay. I want you to name a food from that ripped up list at the beginning of the chat and tell us how it can find its way to your plate! Then type it, snap it, share it however you like, and then tag me for your next cool badge!

Let’s see how you did!

  • Sooooo many of you (too many to mention everyone) got popcorn back on your plate by using a silicone popcorn popper for some ZERO POINT snacking!  The most popularly mentioned model is available on Amazon here and comes in 22 colors!

  • Caroline from Ireland reminds us that we can keep some special treats like Kerry Gold real butter on our plate if used in moderation!
  • And finally you have to go look at the graphic that Deanna posted in our IYHAE Facebook group.  Go.  Now.  Just kidding, stay here but really…go after we are finished up here.  She keeps peanut butter on the menu by subbing PB2 or another nut butter substitute.  1 cup of JIF = 53 points.  Deanna has discovered that 1 cup of reconstituted PB2 = only 9 points.  I’ll let you do that math!

Bravo, you did it!

This Week’s Topic: Baby Steps to Bigger Steps!

I meet and/or talk to people almost every week who think they aren’t getting any meaningful activity or worse, that they can’t..

If that’s you, raise your hand, stand up (if you’re able), walk away, walk back, and hang on for some eye opening fast facts!

A little bit of something is better than a whole lotta nothing

Ok that’s not exactly a fast fact, but it’s a scientific fact that all movement counts towards improving your health and some is better than none.

Break It Down

Breaking down any fitness into smaller bits and your goals into small doable steps significantly increases your ability to do it AND keep it up

Dance. Smile. Giggle.

This quote from Mandy Hale sums it up. “Dance. Smile. Giggle. Marvel. TRUST. HOPE. LOVE. WISH. BELIEVE. Most of all, enjoy every moment of the journey, and appreciate where you are at this moment instead of always focusing on how far you have to go.”

― Mandy Hale, The Single Woman: Life, Love, and a Dash of Sass

This Week’s Homework: #DanceSmileGiggle

Your homework for this week is #DanceSmileGiggle. This week I want you to find one way to dance, smile and giggle your way into a little bit of activity. It might be doing the new Danny Go dance along with your grandkids. Maybe it’s splashing in the surf with your favorite walking buddy. Then type it, snap it, share it however you like, and then tag me for your next cool badge!

Don’t forget to do your homework #DanceSmileGiggle and tag me when you share on social media!

Extra Credit: Summer Salad Series – That Man’s Chicken Salad

This recipe is super easy! A perfect quick and easy meal in a rush or when your husband is out of town! This salad is made with the classic If You Have An Egg That Man’s Chicken recipe! Find that recipe by clicking the link.

This recipe can be made with rotisserie or canned chicken as well, but please remember to count your points accordingly!

Nutritional yeast is one of the most important ingredients for “seasoning” the chicken before it hops in the air fryer. Starting with 0 point air-fried chicken, the dressing is a must! It’s plain non-fat Greek yogurt, light mayonnaise, and my special secret ingredient… G Hughes Sugar Free Sweet Vinaigrette! Apple cider vinegar or mustard works too! After you mix the dressing, go back to the chicken and add chopped celery, chopped grapes (or blueberries!), scallions, and a little something extra could be chopped walnuts or simple salad toppers. Mix everything together with the dressing and there you have it! A simple, delicious chicken salad!

Tip! This recipe is good served immediately, or refrigerated for 3 days. Freezing is NOT recommended.
