News and Reviews

  • Even though it’s not completely ready, I moved us to the KC Kitchen Center Showroom for our chats and Lilly has been helping me get ready! We have our Presto Digital Pressure Canner, Instant Pot, Simple Living Air Fryer(s), Food Processor, Souper Cubes, Dak’s Spices and more ready to go. Last week we made a fantastic Chimichurri recipe as a practice run!!
  • Thank you to Sherry for sending STARS last week during the Live chat! They are a much appreciated boost to our Egg Lady economy and helps to support the investments in equipment, time and supplies for our chats!
  • And in much anticipated news, the cucumber spears versus circles debate continues.  Team Spears was slightly ahead but Team Circles is coming up strong. Which team are you on?

Last week in Chat #324 Fuel vs. Friction, according to Kelly Clarkson if something doesn’t kill you it will make you stronger.

I don’t know about you but just avoiding a melodramatic unlikely death scenario isn’t always necessarily a motivational speech to get me to do something.

The 3 Fast Facts from WW this week:

FUEL

Behavioral Scientists call anything that makes a behavior easier for us to do “fuel”. Think having fruits and veggies pre washed and ready. That would be fuel because we just have to grab them and go…easy right?

FRICTION

In that same line of logic, anything that makes a behavior more challenging to do is “friction”.  Like looking outside and seeing a torrential downpour would make it more challenging to go out for your morning walk.

Fuel Versus Friction

Humans tend to do the things that require the least amount of friction. An example of fuel might be what I said before, washing and prepping your zero point fruits and veggies and then putting them in a CLEAR container at eye level in the fridge. Or if snacks in the house are an issue you could add some friction by moving them out to the garage, putting them in an opaque container so you don’t have to see them every time you open the pantry, or not even bringing them home.

Your homework was #FuelOrFriction. Find something you want to make easier (FUEL) or something you’d like to make a little harder (FRICTION) Then type it, snap it, share it however you like, and then tag me for your next cool badge!

  • Loretta gives herself FUEL by freezing blueberries in zipper lock baggies and having them ready to enjoy!
  • Coreen says the best FRICTION for her against mindless snacking is to not bring in pre-packaged individual bags of snacks. If she purchases just one she can only eat one, talk about positive friction!
  • Sarah could have crawled back in bed on a rainy day last week but instead she kicked in some FUEL by utilizing the treadmill at her condo’s gym!

Bravo, you did it!

This Week’s Topic:  “Mirror Mirror On The Wall!”

Don’t you wish you could find someone who’s lost weight before, done some things right, has been around the block a time or two but lived to tell about it, you know…someone who really gets what you’re going through.

Good news!  Just look in the mirror…that person is YOU!

While you are trying to decide if you really are the best person to talk about this (and you are!) just remember this:

All Systems Go

Think back to a time when you lost weight and how it made you feel. Or maybe a time when your fitness was on point and you loved the way you looked walking away from a mirror. Now list 3 things that were happening during that time that led to your success. Things like:

  1. When I lived in a neighborhood with sidewalks I walked almost every day and sometimes twice a day
  2. My job was a little less demanding and I had time for meal prep which made making a low point choice a lot easier
  3. The kids were at a good age to help me experiment in the kitchen which made meal planning and eating a lot more enjoyable for all of us

Failure To Launch

Now think about a time when it seemed like you just couldn’t get it together. Look at your trusted person in the mirror and name 3 things (OUT LOUD!) that you felt were a failure to launch like:

  1. My spouse’s job keeps them from eating dinner with me so I just grab whatever is on the way home or munch on easy things in front of the tv
  2. Stupid Covid disrupted my workout routine and now I’m too out of shape to do what I was doing before
  3. I don’t understand how to do the new WW Program so I just eat whatever I want and don’t bother tracking it

Go Left

When nothing goes right…go left!  It works for race car drivers and it can work for you too!

Let’s just use the first failure to launch example “my spouse’s job keeps me from eating dinner with them so I just munch in front of the tv.”  Well that’s ME, and I’m turning LEFT by sharing a garden with my neighbor, investing in an Instant Pot and learning how to use it, and making lots of put up in the freezer grab and heat up meals that I can enjoy while we chat about our day or watch an episode of Bones together!

This Week’s Homework: #GoLeft

Your homework for this week is #GoLeft. This isn’t your first rodeo. You’ve had some successes, I promise there are times you can look back on and use them for days when everything seems to be going wrong.  This week I want you to Go Left by looking in that magic mirror and telling yourself one way you can stop circling in the “nothing is going right” spiral by going LEFT. Then type it, snap it, share it however you like, and then tag me for your next cool badge!

Extra Credit: Egg Lady Labs – Instant Pot Getting Started!

Tonight, we focused on getting your instant pot ready for use. This is for all of the people who are hesitant to get one or just aren’t too sure if this instant pot is for you. I purchased this one off of Amazon, and I wanted to share some tips, tricks, and instructions that I’ve learned with you!

This is a quick and easy list of things I’ve learned:

  • Don’t be afraid of it
  • Read the Instruction Manual!
  • Join a Facebook group.. They help more than you think!
  • Don’t put it directly on your new quartz countertops. Use a trivet or a hot pad, please!
  • Don’t use it with an extension cord or unplug it after use
  • Don’t use it or any other appliance on your cooktop

Keep watching for more testing, playing, and recipes! I’m so excited and you should be too.
