WW (Weight Watchers) Chat #165: Hey, Nobody’s Perfect!

Last week we discussed Healthy Eating Zones (HEZ) and how to earn a Blue Dot. There are many reasons to earn a blue dot but just as many reasons why it’s okay if you don’t!

Your homework for the week was to have a #bluedotday and share with me on social media…Let’s see how you ladies did with your homework!

  • Sandra has remained within her HEZ for 13 days out of the first 14 in March so far!
  • Carla had blue dots all last week (and so far this week too!)
  • Carol Lou planned out the rest of her week using leftovers and has blue dots for daaaaaays!
  • Slyvia understands the weekends are hard for her so she stayed in her HEZ most weekdays so she could enjoy her grandson’s 16th birthday party. And she tracked the cake too!

Bravo ladies, you nailed it!

**BONUS** For surviving the first week of #coronacrazy without actually going crazy, giving up, or even whining much Casey has created you a special bravo sticker that you can download absolutely free! The You’re Crushing It sticker sheet is yours free when you add it to your cart and use the promo code CRUSH at checkout. Get yours today!

This Week’s Topic: Chat #165 – Hey, Nobody’s Perfect!

Okay, this week has sucked. Let’s all admit it – even the most optimistic of us have found ourselves saying, “What next?”

Weight loss is not a perfection sport. Trying to be perfect in what you eat, how much you weigh, even how you track is not realistic, especially on weeks like this one, it can make you crazy.

The only good thing about our current global crisis is that it’s a not so gentle reminder that we are in fact the same. This virus knows no difference in income level, social popularity, introvert or extrovert, even country of origin. We have all swiftly been leveled to the same measure of “normal.”

Remember that the next time you miss a day tracking (or a week or a year)… that doesn’t make you lazy – it means you are normal. On a weight loss and gain roller coaster? Don’t just scream or throw up… We are all on this same ride together!

This Week’s Homework: #iamnormal

(Fill in the blank) just happened. I’m not going to beat myself up this time because #iamnormal. Instead I’m going to (fill in the blank). Fill in your blanks and share with me and our WW community on social media:

Extra Credit

I don’t care who you are or where you live, even if you have not been infected you have been affected. COVID-19 (or Coronavirus) has people scared, curious, even mad.

We watched Frozen 2 with Alyssa this morning and one of the leading men from this sure-to-be Disney classic said something so profound I went back and looked it up. Elsa has just evacuated her kingdom to save them from an unknown and unexplainable threat (sound familiar?). The children of Arandale were poking strange ice formations into Olaf’s chin when one of them asked what he was doing. Wisest words ever spoken… “This is called controlling what you can when things are out of control.” WOW.

We can’t control a lot right now but here are 3 ways we can “control what you can when things are out of control.”

  1. Control Your Own Environment
Using normal cleaning supplies and some common sense, hit all those areas where fingers (and germs) touch but you don’t think to clean on a regular basis. Things like:
    – You car’s steering wheel
    – Glasses and sunglasses
    – Your dog’s leash
    – Car keys
    – Your remote/mouse
    – The inside of your fridge handle
Be sure to check out my post about Coronavirus and your countertops!
  2. Consider Intentional Maintenance
During Chat #80 Orlando Debbi and I discuss reasons you might want to put your weight management into survival model or “intentional maintenance.” Now seems like one of those times. Go check it out on YouTube!
  3. Control Your Own Surroundings
    – You can’t control what’s closed: nursing homes, schools, most sporting events, concerts, churches, even WW meeting places.
    – Things are still OPEN! (take advantage of them!) For example: Outside… as in ALL of it, Phone lines (How about calling someone? A friend and I in high school used to call each other every Thursday night and watch Knox Landing “together”), Windows (bad air out, good air in!), Radio stations are still streaming (dance and sing… you’re by yourself so no one can hear you, right?), YouTube, Facebook Groups, and lots of other ways to “hang out”! We attended virtual church this morning, I spoke to more people from home and I ever would have on a normal Sunday morning. You can attend Live chats like ours and interact with other WW’ers, stay tuned for the WW Virtual Meeting info coming out in the next couple of days, even host a Facebook Watch Party it’s the next best thing to being there!
    – You can’t control people hoarding toilet paper and baby wipes (why is no one hoarding coffee or beer?)
    – But you can keep some handy “camping in your own home” supplies ready. Ready for hurricanes, wildfires, camping, rolling blackouts, and yes, pandemics.  You’ll have to watch (or listen) to this week’s chat to see them all but make sure they are shelf stable, no special devices needed to open, eat or heat, go ahead and mark them with the WW My Way Smart Points so you’re not guessing, even use repurposed (and washed) laundry pod or other water resistant containers to keep them dry!
