I’ve been playing with this all week and we will go IN DEPTH next week during the extra credit.  I started to do it this week but we have a 200th party to have!

***AND SUPER DE DUPER ANNOUNCEMENT…this is our 200th chat***  Can you believe it? 200 times we have met together, cried together, and hopefully laughed a lot together. During the LIVE CHAT only we are giving away two prize packages, but if you missed it don’t worry – you can take advantage of the 20% off coupon I announced during the chat now through November 28th, 2020.  But you have to watch (or listen) to get the code!

Everyone who attended or comments on the 200th LIVE gets the special badge that Casey created for us absolutely FREE!  And if you’d like a t-shirt, mug, hat, water bottle or other item to remember this by just visit our Spreadshirt store.

Don’t forget! The extended free Lifetime benefits requirements were (notice I said were) still waived until the end of November BUT…. Middle and East Tennessee has been extended to FEBRUARY 28th! If we do get to return to in person workshops before then they will still honor that date in OUR AREA.

If you are in East Tennessee we now have Wellness Check-Ins in Maryville, Oak Ridge, Powell, and at the Cedar Bluff main location. Still no word on in person workshops *wah*

And of course, don’t forget to use our special 10% from Simple Living Products! Go to simplelivingproducts.com, choose the air fryer you’d like, and enter code EGG10 at checkout.

Last week’s Chat #199 was an attempt to get us all ready for the strangest holiday season ever – 2020! With numbers soaring in almost every corner of the country, at least our turkey holiday is expected to be much different than what we are accustomed to. A local news report said even our food banks are making changes because people are grabbing up all the smaller birds to match the size of the gathering!

Your #dineindineout homework for this week was to use one of the five methods we listed to beat holiday madness. Let’s see how you did.

  • Lynn will be alone for Thanksgiving this year so she’s making a Cornish hen, Stovetop stuffing, a baked sweet potato and That Man’s green beans! Just enough for lunch and dinner for herself without any leftovers. A friend of hers will bring her a slice of pecan pie and she’ll have the perfect Thanksgiving celebration for one!
  • Loretta’s husband brought home a lemon meringue pie and she chose to have just a small slice instead of half the pie. She feels like her mind is getting better with food and knows when she’s had plenty.
  • Marlene plans to have a snack in preparation for her Thanksgiving meal. She’s got chilled fruit cups and a veggie tray ready to go!

Bravo ladies, you nailed it!

This Week’s Topic: The Simplest Way to Stay On Track!

Turkey Day USA is almost upon us! Rather than stressing over big meals with even bigger messes, most of us are trying to figure out how to deal with keeping festive while spending time with fewer  people. And if you’ve decided to dine alone this year you need a  plan more than ever. WW has been encouraging us to make STAR goals for years. I’d write mine down, feel good about it and then lose the piece of paper in my purse or car before I ever made it home. Your new WW+ app lets you fill it all out on the app and keep it with you! But what is STAR?

  1. Specific: Make sure that your goal for this holiday, large or small is S-pecific. Example: “I will eat less” can’t be measured so you don’t know how you did. Instead try saying “I will put my fork down in between every bite so I will eat less!”
  2. Truly Doable: If your goal is to become vegan this holiday but you have a 20 pound turkey thawing, it’s probably not going to happen. Instead, try cutting back on some meat and processed foods, concentrating on roasted veggies and maybe a special fruit cocktail (or mocktail!)
  3. Active: Goals are much less achievable when we make them something we “won’t” do instead of something we “will” do. Rather than say “I won’t eat any of grandma’s special once-a-year dessert” try “I will wait until everyone else has gotten theirs and then I will help myself to one serving of grandma’s treat. I’ll even track it this year!”
  4. Relevant: This might sound obvious but we do it all the time. The goal has to be relevant to YOU, not someone else or something you just think you “should” do. If your aunt thinks you “should” take all the leftovers home but your goal was to get in a walk, maybe help her get the containers out and then take the walk while she hands things to everyone else to take!
